We were delighted to welcome Sahithya Natarajan to our Client Success team for a one month internship! Sahithya is studying BSc Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London.

In general, I have never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do or what field of work I wanted to go into after I finished with my degree. All I knew was that I loved studying psychology, but didn’t necessarily want to pursue a traditional line of work like clinical or educational psychology. 

With just a small muddled inkling of wanting to go into a corporate field, I was interested to hear about an intern opportunity at Arctic Shores. After doing my research on the company, I was instantly hooked – the entire concept of gamified psychometric assessments was really intriguing to me and I wanted to learn more! 

I spent a month working in the Client Success team, who implement solutions for clients and support them throughout and beyond this process. This involves carrying a range of analyses, presenting findings and configuring the algorithm used to assess candidates.

Here’s what I loved the most about my time at Arctic Shores:

The People:

Straight off the bat, the first thing that resonated with me about my experience at Arctic Shores were the people. I couldn’t have asked for a more warm, friendly and welcoming team to take me on board for the month. Not only was everyone willing to talk to me, but they were always asking if I needed help with anything and making sure I was getting on okay. These interactions truly made my internship special - I’m not only coming out of this with valuable work experience and a better sense of what I might want to do professionally, but also great friendships that I will cherish going forward.

The Environment:

Based on past work experiences, I was pleasantly surprised to see how different the working environment and atmosphere at Arctic Shores was. Everything was so chill - in terms of the freedom to work within the office or outside on the sofas or from the top floor with amazing views of London! I had the flexibility to work from anywhere, as long as I got the job done. It was refreshing to be given so much freedom and trust, and it’s safe to say that I thoroughly embraced and enjoyed it.

The Learning Opportunities:

From past work experiences, I was accustomed to getting typical admin-based work and perhaps a few minor tasks here or there. However, from the very beginning of the placement, I was given challenging and interesting tasks and projects to complete. This is what I appreciated the most about my time at Arctic Shores – the fact that I was given proper assignments to do such as making presentations that were actually used by colleagues, or projects that enabled me to use my own initiative and creativity, such as creating coaching guides where I got to edit the layout, choose colour schemes and come up with my own questions for each trait. I was also given the opportunity to carry out data analysis and attend client workshops!

The varied nature of the projects that were assigned to me allowed me to pick up and hone various skills and truly apply my existing knowledge in the field of psychology. This also meant that nothing was too repetitive or boring. The tasks also allowed me to develop my communication and teamwork skills, as well as my knowledge of psychology. 

Feeling like I had made a contribution to the team, receiving appreciation as well as constructive feedback for me work pushed me to work to the best of my ability.

After completing my internship at Arctic Shores and experiencing their innovative solution first hand, I am convinced that this is the way forward when it comes to assessments and recruitment - so much so that I found myself enthusiastically selling the company to my friends and family!

As a whole, I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity -  from the incredible relationships I have formed, the skills I have developed and - last but certainly not least - for giving me clarity in knowing what my next steps in my career path should be. So, thank you to the entire team for providing me with such a fruitful learning curve.
