Are you an experienced Senior Scala Developer interested in developing your cross-functional technical skills? Would you like to work for one of Manchester’s fastest growing software companies on an exciting Greenfield project using the latest technologies?  

 The Opportunity:

You will have the opportunity to work on a Greenfield project, hosted in AWS, primarily written in Scala. You will be writing functional, test driven Scala in close collaboration with our frontend developers and our BA and Product Owner. While Scala is our primary language you will have the opportunity to get involved writing Python, JavaScript or Terraform as required. As our cross functional developer, you will be helping build and develop our globally scalable systems that handle all our internet traffic as well as heavily supporting our Data Science team. 

 What we would expect from you:

  • You have a good engineering mindset - you know how to build robust scalable software systems and are not afraid to design and build systems from scratch.
  • You will be comfortable moving from building RESTful services to architecting low level network features to configuring security to implementing fully automated CI pipelines.
  • You genuinely enjoy working as part of a team and respect your colleagues.  
  • You are prepared to listen, but you are also happy to take the initiative and demonstrate by example.

  • We do not have specialists here.  There are no developers, architects and dev-ops at Arctic Shores - everybody is a cross functional-engineer and is expected to understand all aspects of building solid production systems at scale.

We process large amounts of data from the behavioural assessments we develop and then put it all through our analytics engines to derive insights into personality traits and behaviours.
